Dear Yogi!

Thailand... A land as much known for the sheer beauty and tranquillity of its beaches and mountains, as for its chaotic cities and bustling markets.

With islands made of quartz crystal, the spiritual energy of Thailand beckons people from all over the world.
Though deeply steeped in the Buddhist traditions, Thailand is a spiritual melting pot, attracting seekers and guides yearning to dive deep into their inquiry into life’s biggest questions.
Universal Yoga Mirrors Thailand’s Inherent Spiritual Nature.
While other yoga traditions, particularly as adopted in the West, focus heavily on asana or movement of the body, Universal Yoga focuses on all the yogic limbs to intelligently further one’s spiritual growth.

We invite you to immerse yourself in the experience of Universal Yoga with its master creator Andrey Lappa during our upcoming 4 week yoga teacher training experience in Thailand.

During the immersion, you will be completely provided and cared for in luxurious accommodation with healthy and conscious food, adequate time for restoration and reflection, and a yoga learning experience that will deepen your practice physically, mentally and spiritually…all the while preparing you to share the gift of Universal Yoga with the world.

Read on to discover a path to yoga teaching… The truly special and unique path you’ve been waiting for.
Universal Yoga Levels 1 and 2 - May 27th to June 21st
Universal Yoga Level 3 - June 22nd to July 5th
Why should I choose this teacher training over all others?
Universal Yoga, a system designed by Andrey Lappa and celebrated the world over, is a multi-faceted system of yogic techniques and practices used intelligently for the purpose of furthering your spiritual growth.

The system takes you through all of the levels we experience as you move from your physical being toward your essential nature, known as the Maya Koshas. From Sanskrit, Maya translates to “illusion” and Kosha means “Sheath”.

Thus, to discover your truest nature, your innate form closest to God, you must learn to move beyond human illusion to your true essence.

Universal Yoga gives you a practice to balance your sheaths or layers, and balance your own essence with that of the outside world.

Universal Yoga is practiced in studios all over the world. The practice you learn in this teaching immersion will not only provide you with a more deeply spiritual awakening of your own, but will enable you to lead classes anywhere you desire to live.

With the increasing popularity of Universal yoga, and with the skills learned from the Founder himself, you will be able to provide a unique offering many other yoga teachers simply cannot, giving you access to untapped markets for your skills.

Even if you are not interested in teaching yoga, the depth of the Universal Yoga philosophy and practice you will learn through our yoga teacher training will deepen your practice and balance as you move through whatever life you create for yourself.

Teach Anywhere In The World. We Are Yoga Alliance Accredited
Who is this immersion for?
This training is not for everyone.

The depth of the spiritual and physical practice of Universal Yoga is for experienced yoga practitioners, who yearn for a more profound balance and closeness to their true essence.

We invite you to apply for this training if you:
  •  Are a serious student committed to the study of yoga.
  •  Wish to become a yoga teacher, differentiate and add to your yoga instruction skill set, or if you just want to dive into a deeper inquiry with yoga.
  •  Have a longing for immersion, in a 4 week all encompassing educational and spiritual guided program.
  • Feel a connection or pull to visit the beautiful energy of Thailand.
  • Our teaching program is certified by Yoga Alliance.
  • The program includes room and board, daily yoga practice, lectures, experiential personal and spiritual development activities, lessons and time to practice yoga teaching skills and techniques, and adequate rest and relaxation.
  • Unlike a local Yoga Teacher Training, where you go to classes and otherwise live in your normal surroundings [with the stress and responsibilities that come with it], this course is designed to be all-inclusive and immersive, so you can focus purely on your growth for the life changing weeks you are in Thailand.
Who are the teachers?
Andrey Lappa
Lead Teacher
Andrey Lappa started studying yoga at the age of 14 in Ukraine, which at the time was part of the old Soviet Union. Later, Andrey travelled to the Far East, visiting India 42 times, exploring the country extensively.

During his travels, he developed his skills with world famous teachers B.K.S. Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois, as well as learning from some less well known but unusual teachers and Sadhus.

Andrey is a follower of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Buddhism and a disciple of the venerable Choje Lama Phuntsok.

After devoting a lifetime of exploration to the most esoteric and challenging practices of yoga in Hindu ashrams and Buddhist monasteries, Andrey developed the powerful and effective Universal Yoga.

It is a systematic approach to spiritual evolution based on the key principles of classical yoga, creativity in practice and personal spiritual freedom.

Andrey is the keeper of Shiva Nata™ (Dance of Shiva), a system of conscious control and liberation.

"I went into the Universal Yoga training having already completed two other trainings. However, I would say that this one is incomparable. With the extensive amount of information and the in-depth exploration of yoga that teacher Andrey Lappa offers.

Prior to practising Universal Yoga, I felt limited by fixed sequences and asana variations as I progressed. Since learning the UY system my personal practice, teaching and understanding of yoga have completely transformed.

Universal Yoga provided me with the method or backbone of sequencing which I could then freely apply with creativity to produce new sequences that are applicable and effective for the individual.

UY has helped me develop awareness and consciousness. The physical asana practice is consciously crafted in a way that tackles the more subtle layers, creating an energetically balanced effect. All this I have learned from the UY system and I am eternally grateful to my teacher Andrey Lappa.

I've stayed at Vikasa three times as a student and a teacher and every time I go back it feels like returning home.

The staff are warm and friendly; the food is healthy and delicious and the people are easy going and relaxed. The energy there is just vibrant and up-lifting. It is a place I would always recommend to my friends."
Judy NG (Hong Kong)
"The unique system of Universal Yoga and Shiva Nata not only changed my personal practice and the way of spreading yoga in the modern world, but also slowly revealed the deeper aspect and the real goal of yoga through the transmission from guru.

Although my story of yoga started not long before I met Andrey, within a short period of time the deep information guaranteed that there would be more than just yoga asanas to be explored in the world of yoga. I was able to really understand what union is and why yoga is 'universal'. No one can explain that better than Andrey Lappa.

I love being balanced; I love playing with right and left; I love challenging my brain and my love and passion for yoga led me to a fate of meeting with my guruji Andrey Lappa who can give me all of that in one practice and whom I believe can guide me through the secret realms of yoga and freedom. "
Supapan (Thailand)
"Universal Yoga is the most complete form of Hatha Yoga practice available to the modern 21st Century practitioner. It's not a method that's an edit short form of some common asana yoga system. It's the pure distillation of effective methods from realised yogis and Buddhist high monks.

Andrey Lappa holds his degree in Ph.D and so his methods are purely scientific with effective means to achieve the goal of Hatha Yoga which is kundalini awakening. The crucial step to the final goal, Raja Yoga.

Universal Yoga is not a style. It is science. And from this science the trainees will learn all effective means to teach all aspects of yoga for the modern 21st century practitioner.

Being a 500 hour certified teacher of Universal Yoga and three times training facilitator for this course, I highly recommend it to all learners that yearn for real teachings of Hatha Yoga.

It is exciting news that Universal Yoga teacher training will be available in Thailand for the first time and hosted by world famous Vikasa Yoga School.

I encourage all practitioners to take this training and learn ways of practice that will blow your mind."

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Universal Yoga and how does the actual practice differ from other types yoga commonly practiced today?
Universal Yoga is a method of yoga based on universal rules and principles that can be applied to any style of teaching. The actual practice is quite different as it is done on cross mat, with vinyasas used to connect the practice in 4 different directions, rotating clockwise and couterclockwise through the practice.
How popular is Universal Yoga and how is its influence spreading?
Universal Yoga school was established in Ukraine and is very well known across all Russian speaking countries. For the last 10 years Andrey Lappa has been very actively teaching it in the USA, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai and Taipei. It is pretty well known in these cities.
Universal yoga is quite new...can you describe how it came to be and its influences from the more classical traditions?
Universal Yoga is new as a name, but it comes from ancient Himalayan traditions and practices founded by Sage Milarepa. Therefore the techniques used are not new at all.
 I've taken Levels 1 & 2 already... can I take Level 3 at Vikasa?
Yes Level 3 is available for students who have already completed levels 1 and 2. Click here for booking Level 3
What are the Kosha's and why they are so important to the inquiry of yoga and the journey toward spirit?
The Koshas are “layers” of the human body, such as physical, energetic, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Yoga addresses all these aspects in it’s practice. Typically yoga joirney is from the external to the internal, starting with the physical exercises to strengthen and purify the body, preparing it for the energetic and mental practice of pranayama and meditation, ultimately leading to spiritual practice and development.
What is the benefit of a fully immersive teacher training?
The benefit of an immersion training is the continuity and full immersion in the experience. As a student you can go much deeper and develop a much stronger connection with a teacher. There are no distractions, and you can be fully focused on the studies, plus the conditions are perfect, with fresh air, proper food provided, and so on. An immersive experience in a proper environment is very important and is a great factor to consider when choosing a training.
What is Shiva Nata and does the training includes certification in Shiva Nata?
Shiva Nata is an ancient practice, translated as the Dance of Shiva. This practice develops coordination of the body, and is said to be the basis of all other martial arts. Certification in Shiva Nata is depending on successful completion of examination and is on a case by case basis. If you manage to understand it and do it well, certification is possible, but not everyone gets certified.
Can I bring a spouse or friend with me to the training center, even if they aren't attending the training?
You can bring a spouse or a friend for a few days or weeks, subject to extra charge. Please inquire for more details.
Universal yoga has a reputation of being quite physically demanding. What are the minimum health criteria for taking part in this training? What is the yoga skill level required?
Universal Yoga is very physically demanding. Typical practice will last about 3 hours. We strongly recommend a fairly established yoga practice prior to attending this course, and a healthy body free of injuries. If you attended another teacher training in the past it will definitely help. This course is not recommended for beginners.
